This is the most famous Rookery in Florida. We met a lot of tourist and photographers alike from around the world in this tiny park over the years. If birds are not active in other parks, Venice Rookery can lend itself and one can certainly get good shots of Herons, Egrets, Ibises, Anhinga and many more. Photographing them in flight, building a nest or allo-preening images instant to photographers. Photograph your heart out the whole day.
This time, it was different, there were few nests being built. The rookery was not as active as it use to be. However, we got images to keep and happy to show.
Great Blue Herons(Ardea Herodias)
These are breeding herons, they have yellowish bills and ornate plumes on their heads, necks and back. Non-breeding Great Blue Herons lack plumes and bills are yellower.
Great Egret(Ardea alba) Breeding Great Egret have long plumes trailing from back.
