Joanie Piluke

Years ago, if someone asked Joanie if she does photography, her answer was "sometimes." Managing the Norman Piluke Gallery was her main priority. For years, Joanie devoted her time assisting her husband Norman Piluke in the creation and exhibition of his best selling Photographic Art.  The experience from photography  trips  to the use of different equipment from 35 mm to the large format view cameras inspired her to become a photographer.

She learned Basic Photography at Seneca College, Continuing Education and Training. Also living in the world of Norman Piluke Photography has been an easier transition for her to achieve her goal. Although her hobbies were drawing and painting, she  diverted her artistic world through the lens. When she gained her confidence in the technology, she acquired her  first medium format camera, a Mamiya RZ. Through those years, Joanie has been exposed and enjoyed the use of film and the creative printing in the darkroom. Today, like Norman you will see her using Digital SLR camera. Her photography are also exhibited along with Norman's work in all the exhibitions since 1989.

Joanie says, "I always loved nature as a kid growing up in the Philippines. The pleasant air of the outdoors, birdwatching and enjoying wild flowers take me back.
As much as I enjoy the nature trails I also love to travel and explore other countries in this beautiful world. Every aspect of my adventure with Norman to coming home and finally sharing the experiences through exhibitions are truly the greatest achievement of this exciting endeavor."

She is also an avid birdwatcher and has been enjoying field ornithology for over twenty years. It started as a her passion and spotted birds for Norman to photograph.
Today you will find her photographing birds side by side with Norman fulltime.

Joanie Piluke was born and educated in
Baguio  City, Philippines. Her professional background was in the Medical field.
